open art museum
An open space for art without borders - with a focus on outsider art

The open art museum presents exhibitions that crossover between art brut, naive art, and contemporary positions. A particular focus is placed on outreach to children and young people. The open art museum has a collection of over 8,000 works by more than 180 artists and stands for the existential importance of artistic creation—both for individuals and for society as a whole. It brings people together through art and sees itself as an open place for art without boundaries, with a focus on outsider art. The changing exhibitions at the open art museum show works that fascinate with their diversity, unusual content, and inventiveness. At the same time, they tell stories of real life—art full of stories. We want to show that art can be created anywhere—often from everyday life, using simple means and materials. It opens up surprising perspectives and invites us to rediscover what is familiar and what is foreign.
