Hofwelten Adventure World
Over 800 years of history are embedded in the walls of the Hof zu Wil. It was the center of power for the Prince-Abbey of St. Gallen, a place where the Swiss Confederation set its course, a thriving brewery, and is today a historic monument of national significance. The Hof zu Wil has lived many lives.
In the “Hofwelten” interactive exhibition, history is not only observed but also felt, heard, and actively experienced. Visitors experience history within the building and in rooms that date back to the time of the Prince-Abbot.
The Hof zu Wil was the secular administrative centre of the Prince-Abbey of St.Gallen, whose spiritual heart, the St.Gallen Abbey District, is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The interactive experience is new, immersive, and interactive, focusing on good, just, and responsible living and coexistence in the past—during the era of the Prince-Abbotate of St. Gallen, one of the most powerful monastic states in Central Europe. Equipped with media guides and headphones, visitors are then invited to decide for themselves how they envision a good, just, and responsible world in the future.
